I have an 04 switchback 700. I just put an SLP pipe and can on it with the slp intake. I re jetted and tuned in the carbs to the new set up. I've been playing with it for quite awhile and it still having problems. Everytime i take a run at a hill or anything it will make it a ways up the hill and than just fall on its face. It feels like its loading up, it just slowly looses power. I don't know if i'm getting powder ingested into the can or its the way the carbs are tuned. Has anyone else had this problem??

When you say you have the carbs tuned to the "specs" do you mean the SLP provided specs?

If so, the SLP specs are WAY too rich. This is well known and proven.

700 ves motors running here @ sea level run well/safe and make good power running 440 mains on the SLP single where the SLP spec for sea level is 500!!

The SLP single is a great pipe and works very well, but ONLY when the pipe is hot which requires the jetting to be on ( still safe though).

The SLP single will run lazy and make LESS power than stock when it is cold/jetted rich.

I am not familiar with your elevation but there should be plenty of advice/posts on jetting the SLP single for your area....it's a very popular pipe.

Regardless, watch your plugs and piston wash and you will see where you're at now and when you are where you need to be with the jetting.
Usually the stock carb settings work well other than the mains. Ie stock needle and settings ( middle) etc.
You will know when the pipe is working well as the power will be obvious ( much harder midrange hit and pull) and you will need 2 gr heavier primary weight to stay @ the running rpm of 8000 which is where it likes to run.

You didn't mention what you have done with the clutching?
The stock setup with 2 gr heavier primary weight is a good start.
The rest will depend on your conditions/elevation/weight etc.
ROTALARIS
On my 02 700 rmk 136" I run a silver primary w/ 66 gr. weights and a 48/36 helix w. silver /blue in the 3rd hole. I'm pulling 8100 rpm's and the speedo reads 108 at top end.
jetting is bone stock as for gearing.
I"m running at 0-2000'
