So when does a sled become vintage? I'm just curios, because I'd have to say a sled that 15 going on 16 has got to be close right?

I would have to say it would about the same as a car. I think 20yrs is considered vintage. So like 80's on back.

Most of the vintage racing circuits recognize vintage as pre 81 but some are going pre 85. Our races as of this year are pre 85.

So sounds like the rule is 20 yrs. So we'll be starting to see the older indies starting to pop into that class.

My 82 indy tx-l would kill all those vintage sleds. It even has independent front suspension

I'm just holding on to my 85 Indy Trail that won it stock class at E.R. in 85 and my 87 Indy Trail SP....maybe someday they will be somewhat close to what the vintage race sleds bring in for $$$$

I recently bought a '76 340 Enticer for 50$!

Anyways, I plan to work on it a lot and try and restore it because the origional owner left it outside and there is a lot of things wrong with it, but I think with a little work it can be fixed!! Runs good.

1981 is when the transition from leaf spring front suspensions generally took place. We use 1981 and older as our cut off in our grass drags.

Popular consensus among antique and vintage people is 1967 and prior is antique, 1968 to approx 1985 (leaf spring era) is considered vintage. I personally think that there will emerge a post 1985 class emerge (post vintage???)in the near future. Just my 2 cents.
