Full Version: Squeaky brakes on a new 700 EFI

I've got about 7 hours on my new '06 700 EFI, and it's been absolutely fantastic! The only real complaints I have are the rear storage compartment gets REALLY hot (think I'll have to look into heat shielding of some sort), and I've got a lot of squeaking coming from the brakes - at least I think it's the brakes. Oh - one more annoyance, the platic on the left side of the engine keeps falling off, so I'm getting some industrial strength velcro to deal with that today.

When I hit the brakes there is a fair amount of squeaking, but even when I'm not pushing the brakes, the squeaking is sometimes still there. I'm thinking this is due to the pads resting on the discs, even when not in use. If I turn really sharp, or am going over bumps, the squeaking is a little more apparent. Could this all be due to the breaks? If so, any good ideas for stopping the noise?

Thanks!

Mike, I have had a few Polaris Sportsman's and they all had squeeky brakes. My friends all have Polaris and they have the same problem. I read in a magazine that Polaris is notorious for squeeky breaks but it is nothing to worry about. They tend come out of it after a while.

My 2006 450 has squeaky brakes. They started out being nice and quiet, but now squeak a lot. I found this stuff for car brakes, called Rotor Anti-Squeak. I used it on my trucks brakes and they have been nice and quiet ever since. I plan on trying it on my 4-wheeler this weekend when I get time to pull the wheels off and spray both sides of the rotors down good. Its supposed to bond to the metal and help stop glazing of the pads and rotors.
