Hi All,

Just found this forum yesterday and joined up.

I need some buying advice on 2 sleds.
My main use will be occassional trail ride and ice fishing, carrying 2 people some of the time.

98 classic touring, 500 Lc, 2500 mi, seat needs repair, 1 owner. Price is $1200 obo.
no major repairs done, sled has been used a few hrs each season for safety class.

96 trail touring, 500 fan, 3000 mi, seat needs repair, 1 owner. Price is $900 obo.
no major repairs done, sled has been used a few hrs each season for safety class.

Both sleds belong to same owner, they have been stored inside and been stabilized
during off season.

I know the Lc will have more Hp, but it also weighs 70 lbs more too, so not sure which to go with.

Which sled you would choose and why?

What should I offer?

Are there items I should inspect for problems?

Thks in advance.

Go for the older Trail Touring. For ice fishing the 488 fan in that sled is the way to go. No cooling issues on an icy lake or at low speeds that might give the liquid fits. Plus the trail will work better for pulling a sleigh or hut. The X-tra 12 suspended touring sled chassis that the Classic has will give you a better ride, but they stuggle to get underway from a dead stop. I can remember back in the day every other XLT Touring that came in had a smoked belt and rubber all over the primary.
