I have a 2003 Indy Trail Touring Beleive it or not just got my frist ride for the year this weekend .
To bad I couldn't have finished it when the sled shut down. Got it home and took the engine down a discovered the pistion has been scared badly . What happened ? the sled has only got 1600 miles on it . Checked the old pump everthing seems fine on that end.
I think this problem started long before this weekend on got to put 90 miles on it yesterday.

Okay, does it look like it has melted on the exhaust port? If so clean up your carbs.

If the piston top is pitted, you need to look at rings, needle bearings, crank bearings, piston skirts and so on.

If the sides of the piston are scarred your engine seized up due to running hot or bad piston to cylinder clearances.
