just wondering how well this sled performs on the trail and in the mountains. My dad's got the 2 stroke so if anyone has anything to say about it that would be great cool.gif

2 stroke will have more top end and the four stroke will have alot more bottom end power.

I have just recently got an '06 600 Switchback H.O. I have heard that these sleds have one of the best motors made to date. Is there any truth to that. Anyways I can't wait till we get some snow so I can try it out and see how much get up and go it really has. cool.gif

I'm still waiting for my FST Switchback to come in. Went to pick it up Saturday and they had a Classic loaded on the trailer - oops!!!! My husband got his new 600 Switchback, he's pretty happy with it so far he only got 60 miles on it Sunday. Heard they're having some problems with the FST, hope I'm not making a big mistake getting one the first year out?! :(

The FST is new to the market, so they might have a few problems and have to tweak a few things in order to get it just perfect. I know that my dad had an '05 switchback last year and it had a few problems with it. The belt kept going on it. He went through his first two belts in his life with that sled. Also it didnt get very good gas milage on it. This year they are supposed to have changed that, so I'm assuming that they would have done the same with the FST switchback, so that sled should have little or no problems at all. Good riding for the winter season!

well, the FST turned out to be disappointing with all the glitches that showed up during the season, many were not able to even ride them because of serious issues worthy of a "No Ride until corrected" order. Hopefully things will be better this season, now that the value dropped in half!

The FSt was in my thoughts, but after my first-year Fusion issues, I was not going to be a beta-tester again, I guessed it right, didn't I ?

I am on a 2006 Switchback 900, so far it has been good, but not perfect like I had hoped, And I was on a 2005 Fusion 900 for 2 seasons before the SB-900.

The Fusion almost made me quit the sport!! nothing but problems on top of problems. many problems were dealer related due to the fact that my dealer did not have the digital wrench software, or interface cables to even diagnose my sleds problems, they also applied the recall stickers but never did any of the recalls because they did not have the computer or specialty tools to do it!!

I had to go to a different dealer and buy the fuel tank recall parts to get that done before the season started last year. and guess what? they never performed the work, they just said they did!!

My Sb gets about 11.5 mpg, and I have not found the top speed yet. But there is a running issue in the low-end part of the powerband that has not been figured out yet. But still ridable.

My 05 fusion got 6.5 MPG on it's best day, and would not exceed 85 mph no matter how long you held the throttle to the bars in perfect conditions. Oil pump cables kept breaking,, EGT probes going bad every ride, Primary clutch was absolutely screwed, It shook so hard all the fasteners either broke or loosened and fell out! the Cylinder base gasket leaked and sucked coolant into the engine, the drive train was noisy as hell. The sled was a nightmare from the first night out on it. Only once was I able to ride the sled back home after trying to ride for a night, every other time it came home on a trailer from breakdowns. and every fix took 2-weeks minimum, one time actually sat there for 6 weeks!!! 350 miles was a mark i was unable to surpass on that sled over 2-seasons of trying to ride that $10K nightmare!!

I was considering taping the throttle to the bars and letting it do a ghost ride across a lake, but it probably would have quit running halfway across and I would have needed to drag it back to the dealer again!
I almost forgot about the bulkhead starting to separate from the tunnel. you could see the sled flex by pushing down on the bumper, the belt would tighten and loosen when the sled was lifted by the bumper.
It ate 2-sets of pistons, scored the cylinders, (No, it was not a cold-seize! I know better) compression was off by 35 pounds between the cylinders, and the dealer tried to tell me that was normal! Can you believe this clown. One other item was my concern with lack of top-end, the tech rode it and quickly told me that he hit 115 mph, no problem at all, I did a top-speed recall on the multifunction gauge and showed him that he never got it over 80 mph! I was ready to kill him right there for lying to me!!

And now get this!! I was supposed to get a 2-year warranty when I purchased it, but the dealer changed the paperwork to state I opted for the $300.00 cash back option, and they kept the money and I got no warranty. I would have never bought the sled without 2-years of coverage!! especially on a first year sled!
Then when I tried to purchase a warranty, they quoted me over $1,200.00 for a 2-year with a $50.00 deductible. I called another dealer from years back when I lived in another part of the state, he quoted me $475.00 for a 3-year bumper to bumper with no deduct.

How can a dealer sell sleds that they are not qualified to service and have no required specialty tools to even do the job? why is this allowed to happen?

I had trouble accepting what you were saying, right after the part about your FST Switchback losing half it's value.

Polaris standard operating procedure is to require dealers to have certain tools. They are shipped to them automatically.

If you had chassis flex, it is likely the bolts that hold your sideplates were not tight and may have ovaled out the holes. This can be corrected.

Maybe you need to re-read the post then. Because I did not state I had an FST!

If it is required that dealers have certain specialty tools, then how did this "Clown-Show" of a dealership not have the digital wrench software or any manuals well into January of 2005. and then again in December of 2006 they still did not even have a throttle position sensor tool!

I know they are supposed to have them, but some didn't!!
they were too cheap to buy the needed items to service this sled. They tried to tell me that my check-engine light flashing 5 times was just fouled plugs from the pre-mix in the tank, Then they said it might be the water-temp sensor!
That was my last visit to this dealer, I was able to find the code (EGT Probe failure) online at a different site.
and the dealers reply to my printed code list; "I won't believe anything from the internet, Change your plugs, it'll be fine"

My point; THE DEALERS SHOULD BE FORCED TO BUY THE TOOLS NEEDED, PROPERLY TRAINED AND TESTED FOR COMPETENCE BEFORE BEING ALLOWED TO SELL OR SERVICE THESE EFI SLEDS! IF THEY CAN'T MEET THIS CRITERIA, DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO SELL OR SERVICE THESE SLEDS! I bet the fusion would have a much better reputation if all the dealers knew how to take care of them. many did not and only made a bad situation worse!!
