I have a 97 Ultra 680 and last year I put abad belt on and it snapped and since then all it does is snap belts. I get on the throttle and it vibrates and then the belt snaps. Is the clutch not alligned or not balanced?

I would have to say your clutchs are out of alinement and it is possable that the crank shaft is bent. Also what type and number are you running on it?

Had the same problem years back with my 1000 motor in that chassis. Turned out that I cracked the motor strap on the PTO side. Grab your primary clutch and lift up and down.

Take the belt off. Start the sled up, and look closely to see if there is any wobble in the primary clutch as the engine is running. DON'T get fingers close, we don't want to change your forum name to Lefty!

Put the belt on, lift the back end of the sled up on a jackstand. Start the engine up, and have a helper spin the track at low speed. Look closely for wobble in the secondary clutch. This would mean a bent jackshaft, or damaged secondary clutch.

If you don't have a bent crankshaft PTO end or Jackshaft, you should remove both clutches and have them inspected for wear or damage or belt parts jammed in them somewhere.
