Okay, with all the new fusions and firecats and revs and apex's, it seems as though Pro X riders are fast becoming the minority.

I'm going to be purchasing a 2003 Pro X 600. Let's here some reviews on these sleds. I've heard from many that Polaris hit it on the head with the 03. I know I couldn't agree more. I personally prefer the Pro X over all the new fusions except the 600 HO.

I'm trying to figure out modifications that I'll do.

Let's hear what modifications you've made to your Pro X 600. [clutching, gearing, jetting and spring load are TUNING. Post how you've tuned your sled, but don't call them 'mods']

Here's what I've been planning on:

660 kit
136 X 1.5
SLP twins
BOSS seat
Haven't decided on what skis. I've always used C&A, but I may switch it up for this sled.
Has anyone put walker evans in this sled?

Anyone waxing cocky F7 riders yet?
aja636
i have the walker evens for the factory on my sled. they are great. the only thing is i don't know is what time frame to get them rebuilt.

as in terms of tuning
the psi twins i put on help the over all performance
I put heavy hitter wieghts in and love them took some time to dial them in but over all they work great.

Save your money a v force reeds
buy a set of boysen reed plates the gain is what a dyno says not what you will ever feel buy the seat of the pants feel.

I terms of skis, Simmons flexi skis work fabalous. no darting at all. and go with the bergstrom skeg that has the three points on them. you can steer circles on asphalt.

Quick question, is the ProX 600 chassis identical to the Prox 440 chassis?
DAN_8485
I am almost posotive that the chassis are all the same with different options, However the XR is different then the regular X

I can rebuild your shocks for you if you'd like. See my thread in snowmobile fanatics under general titled Need your shocks rebuilt?

$15/shock right now and $7 for the fluid.

email me kyleroggenkamp@astound.net for more info.

sounds likeyou've got a good set up though.

kyle

and i believe that the 600 is the same as the 440, except for the heat exchangers, etc, although i think the 440 has the u cooler up front, because it was incorporated into the design of the chassis, if i remember right.

The new pipes is your best addition. They really help cuz the stock pipes from the pro-x's were not designed very nicely...
indy440
whats the difference between the proX chassin and the proX2 chassis?
SortaStock
I believe chassis are the the same ^^, The suspension calibration is different, seat windshields, etc are different.

So you would reccomend boisen reeds over v force 3 reeds, cause i was goiing to do the v force 3 reeds for this years mod, i have a pro xr 800 as well

Has anyone put on a torque arm on their pro x's. I am considering it but not sure if I need it or not.

After spending the money V-force wants for thier reed set up, would go with the boysen reed petals. you really won't notice a difference by seat of the pants feel anyway. Over all reeds do improve the performance, throttle respose, etc.

The most gain I seen on my pro xr is the heavy hitter wieghts, polishing the ports and twin pipes.
Mr. Jingles
the ProXR is the race chassis and the X2 I think is the same as the regular X

How many miles on it since you put that arm in? Have you had any trouble with the arm busting up the bulkhead? I blew a belt in my Pro-XR 800 this weekend making a run at about 95 MPH (on the speedo) in a hayfield. Ended up bending the belt cover, busing a chunk of my belly pan out, and wrapping up the speedy cable in the primary clutch. I should really get a torque arm in there.
Matt
In installed one in my 660 this weekend. I'll let you know how it works out. I've got it set really really tight right now.

I have a 2004 Pro XR and it was been nothing but problems since day one, blew a belt every ride , clutch problems , snapped crank shaft just inside the case, went through 3 walker evans shocks , 2 tracks because of top layer peeling off and throwing studs of course through the heat exchanger, 13Gs for a sled and 5 grand in parts polaris screwed me for warenty on most things. most problems fixed except for the track (stock) keeps ripping, and blowing belts, anyone have some insight on any of these problems ?
John_Deere_Polaris_440
xr's and x 2's have aluminum radious rods
Matt
All ProXes except for '01s and '02 600s have the swedged aluminum radius rods. The only mechanical differences between the X2 and X is the X2 has the hollow driveshaft and Walker shocks.

Hi guys/gals,

I have a 2004 600 Pro X. I want to make this thing loud, as I live in a remote area and no one cares about the noise factor, and also I have been thinking about a clutch kit, V-Force 3 Reeds, high flow air intake kit, tempa flow. I already have the track studded and a Hot Seat silencer on it. Could you guys/gals provide some input on what would be the best upgrade for the exhaust and what you think about the other things I have planned, such as what kind of reeds and clutch kit I should use??

isn't there a torque arm already on there because mine came with one

On your pro xr, your running twin pipes and polished ports. Where did you get the work done? And who's twin pipes are you using? Also was it worth the money over the single pipe? I have the same sled and I love it and want to tweak it I just dont know which pipes to go with.

If you really want to fly I took a 03 pro xr chassis and put an xcr tripple engine piped and ported by the crankshop with a boss seat. The sled is a ball to ride

I raced my stock 04 pro-x 600 vs. a 03 f-7 with lots of mods and studs(I only have a 1in track) and was with him up to about 40mph then he was gone. I think I could at least beat a stock f-6. Overall my sled has performed the way I have wanted to! Have a fun and safe season and lets keep this thread going!

if you want a serious pro x call pro 5 racing.

Hey i was blowin motor mounts and belts every few rides till i made my own torque arm out of a set of old tie rods havent had a problem with a belt or mount since and pulls way harder top end because im not squeezin the clutches together
cbutch
Torque arms are almost a must on these sleds especially with an agressive clutch set up. Also check motor mounts those like to go too. I would recomend SLP torque arms guys seem to have had good luck with them.
