i got a 2000 500 xc sp with about 3500 miles on it and i am having problems with performance. It bogs off the line, and it only gets about 8 m.p.g. gas and it goes through oil fast too. I took the carbs apart and cleaned them and the chokes, but this didnt seem to help. I have been told that there was a recall on the carb needles and that may need to be replaced; i was just wondering if there was any truth to that, or if anyone else has any suggestions on this. if anyone has any info plz email me at polaris_rider_31@hotmail.com, thanx

Have you cleaned the VES valves? What oil are you using and how many miles can you ride on a tank of oil?

Don't use the dominotar! Switch to interceptor! Dominator is used for racing!

i know the 02 500 with ves runs a 400 main jet i think the oil mixture is too rich it should be about 50:1
fill up the gas and the oil then refill both and check how much u have used in comparison then double check with your dealer the ratio and ask them for sure on how to adjust it

Run 400's on the mains, I have the same sled and recently the same problem with it bogging off the line. It runs fine when its warm, but its pretty cold blooded. Sometime I just flip to half choke when taking off and it works fine, when I get a little more time i'll start adjusting the carbs and see whats going on.

the liberty twins are very cold blooded and take alot longer to warm up i had a 2000 xc600sp and now have a 2002 xc500sp my 440 fan warms up alot quicker then those two do i know it is a fan but the the liberty engines are known to be cold blooded

I have identical sled and ride in Northern MI. Stock mains I believe are 400's. Dealer (reputable mechanic) changed the mains to 380's, adjusted the TPS setting, and backed the oil pump off a bit. Polaris does ship their sleds on the fat side to prevent burn up. Dealer stated that this particular model is known to drink oil, and it does, even with the oil pump backed off; however, not as much. I get aprx 120 to 130 miles to a tank of gas. It's odd to read that others state that this engine is cold blooded. Starts second pull in dead cold. I have the problem of when once warm and stop on trail; having to hit the throttle a bit while pulling the cord to get it started again. Anyway, just some info for ya.

I have the same problem with my fusion, having to throttle a little to start after warmed up. Talked to the dealer and they said the tps might be out of whack a little. Gonna take it in when i get a chance to have it looked at. Does anyone else have this problem with their new fusions, and if so whathave they done to help matters. Sorry to hijack thread.
