Last year, I was under the impression that I should remove my baffles from my airbox to improve airflow to the carbs giving it better performance and gas mileage... After doing some reading on airboxes I am now told that the baffles help maintain the proper frequency of air or something to match the exhaust. Its all really confusing.... so what do you guys think, whats the pros and cons to removing your baffles.

Slp sells a kit removing the "guts" of your air box. I have it on my pro X and I think it makes a differance in the responce of the sled. So if you are going to do this that would be my suggestion is buy the kit.

.....often guys remove the "top shelf" of the airbox when they add a aftermarket pipe. The jetting is changed to match the pipe and by removing a section or a shelf in the air box you create less restriction of air to the carbs. You "might" be able to remove the upper foam inside the top shelf without doing any exhaust changes and jetting changes. Most of the time sleds are set up to be safe in most conditions. Know this though...by making changes to your air box...you have made a change to your air fuel mixture....even without jetting. Its possible to melt a piston if your not watching your wash and colors.

Ya, I think im going to put them back in. If there was any gain from it, its not worth any risk of damage. Thanks for the input.
