prox800
my 2003 prox 800 has a major fuel consumption problem. Riding on groomed trials I get 8 mpg, if I run hard at all I get mabye 5mpg. I usually burn 2 gallons more than anyone else I ride with on comparable machines. It has been to the dealer several times. They cannot find anything wrong with it, however they know it should burn a lot less fuel. The only mods are V-force 2 reeds, jetted down to 430s, heavier weights in the cluth and a 1.25 track.

Any one else have this problem. What king of milage are people getting out of their 800 PROXs?

I dont know what I get because I have my spedo disconected, but I know it is not good. I use a ton of fuel when ridind pretty hard. I have Hot seat exahust system, V Force 3's, have it rejetted, SlP air box mod, EPI clutch kit. The guys I ride with have REV's and they get a bout twice the mileage as I do. One of them is modded a lot heavier than mine too. MIne is a 700

Most I can get with my 700 clutched is 10-12 max. More on the line of 8 mpg. Your 800 is in line with what I get.

I think you are on track with the fuel consumption with your setup, hey performance comes at a price!

LMAO

I'm guessing I'm getting around 10mpg on my 700...I wen't 50-60miles today and used a half tank (tank size is 11.8).

I wan't to downsize to a 500 or 600...It's sad when you run out of gas and the 500's still have a half tank to go. dry.gif

Well Hp and torqy setups come with a price. Why would you want to down size to a smaller sled??? You can get better milage, Just check your gear ratios and maybe run a differnt clutch spring and smaller weights. FRom what it sounds like you guys are running fairly aggressive set ups with pipes and clutching changes, what do you expect to happen?? All this makes the motor draw more fuel. your mpg is not that bad, I have seen worst. Just carry a gas can with and call it good.... I wouldnt buy a smaller sled though you will regret it.

I have changed my mind about going to a smaller sled, I got my ass blown off by a 800 today and I was doing 80-90. blink.gif Didn't help that my sled bogged down coming out of the corner.

Your 700 should easily walk a 800 if clutched right. Let me know I can help you. I had the same sled and mine ripped. 93 mph in 660 ft.
