I have a 95' RXL 650 triple that was EFI but i changed it over to carb and now it keeps blowing up. I have checked the plugs and everything and i doesn't seem to be running lean. anybody got any ideas or should i just change it back to EFI? lol blink.gif dry.gif

i dont think that it is really leaning out.. more or less, whom ever rebult the snowmobile, either never gave it a brake in period or was never rebuilt right

thanks for the advice, it actually the middle carb seal wasnt sitting right on the jug and pulled to much air and leaned it out and blew a hole in the top of the piston

or there might have been the possibly of some snow being sucked into the carb boot and blowing up.. seen that way to many times to be funny anymore

What sled's carb boots did you use? I'm curious just in case I do a switch to carbs.

boots off a non-efi RXL will work. The trick from what I have read on other forums is to get the jetting right. I guess the EFI RXL's are ported more aggressively than the carb version, but I have read many posts on it working with good results.

Yah i used carb boots off a 1991 RXL non-EFI. does anyone know what the correct jetting for a 95' RXL 650???? and any other suggestions on carb tuning would apprecatied!

I was told by a pretty credible source that the Indy 650 boots don't work on the RXL intake because they are much bigger. The 44mm throttle boddies vs. 38 mm carbs you know? I was told I would need like a 97' XC 600 boot.

I didnt have the sled when it was changed from EFI to carb but when i got it it needed a new middle boot, so i went to Royal Distributing and got one for a Indy 650 and it fit fine... so i dunno it's probly not made for it but it fits blink.gif

It's actually 3-46mm Throttle Bodies that were on it originally not 44mm's and they are 42 mm mikuni's carbs on it not 38's
