Glad to see some people are enjoying their sleds. We still don't have a reasonable amount of snow to ride. I'd really like to try out one of those switchbacks. What kind of gas mileage are you two getting? Probably too early in the season to tell. Did you jet the 600 down at all? They are a little rich from the factory.

Would my two 2002 rmk's 136" x 1.75" be considered a "switchback" sled by todays standards? If so I got 2 of em and I love myswitchbacks!!!!!!!!!
7100 miles on the 700 and 4500 miles on the 600

I only have around 6-7 years of good hard riding, but by the sounds of it, I think that this sled will be my best one yet!!

I'm here...I really love my switchback, but there are a few things that could be improved. The steering/turning is tough. It takes a lot of effort and can get on your nerves by the end of the day. I was also not too impressed with the rear FOX shock that blew after 3 jumps, but that's under warranty so i won't bitch...too much. Other than that i think they have a winner...The motor is awesome! Extremely responsive and strong and hopefully durable. I would recommend this sled to anyone. I had friends comment on how comfortable i looked last year going through the whoops and it's true...It spans them just enough to make a big difference in ride quality.
Good luck in your search for performance and please...always THINK SNOW!

As far as the hard to turn of the switchbacks, that can be adjusted to suit the riders. If it is hard to turn, loosen the front limiter strap on the rear suspension a bit.

hey cool!! thanks for the replies,
Didn't they change something with the ski's for 07 to help with the hard turning problem? but if you did have that problem loosening the limiter strap does help, thats good to know. Thanks
What kind of mileage is the 600 getting, compared to the FST ?
Have any of you had clutch/belt problems at all, everything seem to hook up well?
Speaking of hooking up,what track is that a ripsaw? how are they for off trail? From what I've read sounds like they're not that great.I don't really do a whole lot of off trail so that might not even be a concern for me.Anythings gotta be better than the 121" worn out pos I've got now.
Don't mean to be asking so many questions but I'm just trying to get as much info as I can. I'm really leaning towards this sled as my next purchase.
thanks again,

I was able to see one in person last weekend. So was able to answer a lot of my own questions.
That camoplast track looks like it should hook up nice.. any comments on that track at all?
Was still wondering about any belt/clutch problems anyone may have had...or has that not been an issue at all?
thanks guys,
Trig

I just picked mine up last fall. Lucky me new sled, crap winter!! : (
I did manage to put about 500 miles on, and can honestly say that this is the best sled I've ever had or ridden. Our group all upgraded to 2006 crossovers this year. (2 Switchbacks 3 Renegades, 1 Cat all 600's ) (probably why the winter sucked!) The Switchback out performed them all in the deep snow and climbing. Some folks figure the Renegade made a better trail machine. The Cat could do the best wheelie. I didn't get a chance to run on the lake, but my buudy with the other 600 Switchback said he never saw any tail lights!
I only burrned one belt and it was my own fault getting it on the truck.
This engine rocks! After a quick readjustment of the carbs by the dealer after some cold driveaway problems, the thing hasn't missed a beat. One not so great thing, warm starts require two hands, one to pull and the other to give 'er gas. Not a big thing, but annoying.
Gas milage wasn't super, I figure between 10 -13 miles per imperial gallon, but we were playing in as deep snow as we could find most of the time.
I am very happy with this sled and would reccomend to anyone

I agree, this is the best sled I've had in all my 37 years.
Lots of power and loves the snow, along with, which I think is a great ride. I too burnt a belt, again my fault (deflection).
Went on a trip last year for three days with 13 other sleds, and overall the best was the Switchback 600HO. Had the power, handling on the groom trail and loved the snow.
As for gas milage, all the sleds (above 13), except a couple (four stroke bear cat and ski-doo 388) all were within just a couple dollars or so at refueling time. Just a note thou, I'm finding that the digital fuel guage isn't so accurate. On several occassions low level light is blinking on the SWB and after refueling finding out that there's still about 25%-35% of the tank remaining as opposed to 12.5% as per the owners manual.
Thinking about buying a second, maybe the new 800 SWB next year.
Top speed so far for my SWB 600 HO at idea conditions 166km/h. Got a little scared then, may have hit the 170. Not too bad for 600, nevertheless 125horses.

I agree. The fuel gauge only gives an opinion of how much fuel you have, and the low level light is out to lunch. Not big things, but annoying. Other than that, had her out for the first run this winter yesterday, and still lovin' it!

Has anyone else had a letter about a recall on the fuel tanks?

I would advise you to contact your dealer, give him your snowmobile VIN number and ask him to check if any Service Bulletins need to be applied. The most recent bulletin regarding fuel tank replacements is S-07-09. It applies to selected sleds that have not had the Fuel Neck Insert repair successfully completed. It also applies to sleds that have developed cracks around the filler neck.
SELECTED VINS of some of these models are subject to this bulletin:
• 2004 - 2005 Selected EDGE Models
• 2004 - 2005 Selected EDGE Touring Models
• 2005 - 2006 Selected IQ Models

I have talked to the dealer, he has the fuel tank in for the 600 and the 900. The 600 has a off and on fuel leak out the top, taking them both in this week to get them replaced. Trading out the SLP can for an MBRP as well

Can't wait to hear it!
