i was wondering if someone can help me? I just bought a 2OO2 XC 7OO first time i went out while in woods traveling at speeds less then 2Omph the Temp light kept coming on. Once out of the woods and at higher speeds it was fine. And I was riding in 4 inches of powder and 10 inches of base so there was enough snow. I thought it could have been low on fluid, it was low but not out. This weekend it did the same thing even with more fluid. Is there something wrong with the cooling system or just the simple fact that at the low speeds the track isn't throwing enough snow on the coolers in the tunnel?

There were some updates to the '02s to address the cooling issues. First step is to install a longer snowflap. If that's done, install the auxiliary cooler in the rear of the tunnel to increase cooling capacity.
This, of course, is assuming you're riding on adequate snow and that the system is properly bled.

So there were some problems with the cooling systems originally with the 2002 XC 700s?

Most of the issues were with the 600 with the m-10. First was the cooling system to make sure it was properly bled. Second was the longer snow flap and to change the TPS setting.
Third if the consumer still complained of overheating, the auxiliary cooler was added.
I had all this done, no more problems. In 03 Polaris had the extra cooler.

Check and make sure that with you on the sled, you have about 4 to 5 inches of rear suspension sag, from unloaded, fully extended. This can also affect how much snow is thrown on the coolers, and how much air is blown past them.

From time to time that happens to me with my 04 pro x all my fluid is full but when ever i ride slow with people or with someone on the back the light comes on. But when im out riding it like a raped ape or with my buddies it is fine. I have no idea why it is like that?

my '01 600 had the same issue a few times but I found that there was a touch of air in the system when I bled it and have been fine since..and when I say just a little air I mean just a little like maybe 3 seconds of bleeding the system
My 2002 XC SP 700 had the same problem. As the other guy said, make sure that you suspension isn't too high. It does make a difference. I have recently sold the sled and never did put an auxillary cooler on it but I did consider it.

Make sure it has a properly functioning thermostat (should open about 50C/112F) If this is okay, you may have a failed water pump / water pump drive.

I owned this sled too. One additional thing to check is the coolant bottle cap. They tended to warp and wouldn't seal. My was replaced under warranty.
