I have a 98 xc 700 and i was wondering what a team tss-98 secondary roller clutch would do for it i has a boost bottle and a can on it and a primary clutch kit and i was wondering if i put one of those team secondary clutches on it if its worth the money??

Some of the TSS-98 secondary clutches had trouble with a non-replaceable teflon coated metal bushing, failing in the movable sheave. The design was changed in later productions, I think this was around 2004, have someone knowledgable check it for you. This will give you an improved backshift, but may be more difficult to get maximum top end speed.

You might be better off, making sure your button style secondary clutch is in good shape.

For what it's worth, I have a Team 04 on my '01 600 Edge X and LOVE it! Your clutching will be different from what you have now in the primary. I am running much more weight and helix but still have great backshift. The team clutches need alot of initial side pressure from their spring to prevent belt slippage, and do need more weight in the primary for full shift out. If you're not up on tuning team clutches you should talk to someone who has some experience with them. Make no mistake, they are totally worth it.
