My Sportsman 700efi has been idling really poor and sometimes shuts off. I have to stay on the throttle to keep it running while it warms up. I figured since it was EFI it shouldn't have this problem. I adjusted the throttle cable to keep it at idle but that is just like keeping my thumb on the throttle. There must be something else wrong. If anyone has any suggestion on what to try, PLEASE HELP!!!

i have the same problem with my 07.but mine shuts off unless you just touch the throttle lightly.i read up on it and it has an electronic protection to keep your atv revving up if the throttle is stuck or other problems.check it out it's called etc i think, mine going back to the dealer soon.i'll let you know what they say.

I have the 450 carburated version, but has kind of the same issue in the winter. The cold weather seems to make the machine run rougher, especially on cold days when I was plowing. I mixed in a little fuel stabilizer with my fuel and that helped. Also, not sure if there is an idle setting on the EFI models, but I would check that as well. Also, make sure you go through the proper warm up time period if you are in a really cold area. Starting it and just dumping the choke and going will not make for a happy machine when it is around 0.

Hey man probably to late, but I had the same problem with my 08 500efi. If you adjust the throttle cable on the handlebars and INSURE that the locking nut is tight the problem should be fixed

Verify that your TPS is set correctly. A dealer should be able to do this in 5 minutes.

First of all you don't adjust your throttle cable for idle unless you want to wrap it around a tree. that is for electronic throttle control. you should know what you are adjusting before you do it..
