I'm trying to decide which belt to run this year. I've ran both Polaris and Ultimax in the past with a short lived life for both. I know I need to add a vent kit to the clutch side of the sled (on order as I type) but with other repairs/upgrades I need to do this season, I've come across Dayco HXP belts for $60. I know you get what you pay for, but I can buy 2 belts for the price I'm paying for Polaris belts (preferred belt to run). Any thoughts on them are more than welcome.

You need to get the heat out. Otherwise buy them in bulk.
1/2 hr with a 1/8 drill bit does wonders.

Get the polaris belt it lasted me 4500 miles with out venting and blew due to heat. I have also bought vents for this year to eliminate the heat on both the clutch and exhaust side.

Any kevlar reinforeced belt should work fine.

2500 miles on stock 3211121 belt. Never a problem, but I do have vent kits for both sides.
I just threw it away... you mean I can get 4500 miles? Didnt it clunk when it engaged?
Put on new belt, clunk went away, just figured it was past its usable life.

Just a quick thing to check on your large motor plates on the left side of the sled. Check to see that all the mounting bolts on these large plates are tight. I had few loose bolts on my '06, and I was lucky to get 500 miles on my belts. After I tightned these up, my belt life was dramaticlaly increased.

Check Amazon.com, I needed to replace my belt after last season. I did some looking around and found a brand new Polaris drive belt on Amazon for approximatley $90 with free shipping. That same belt from the dealer could run around $120 plus tax and shipping if not local.

On the stock sleds with clutches aligned and a vent kit had not problems with the Ultimax XS belts. But once modified for any power increase the OEM belt offers longer life.

I am currently selling the 2 Ultimax XS belts I had for spares

Did you readjust belt tension / slack after the belt had 2,000 miles on it?

Once warmed up, you want belt deflection of about 1 1/4" or so. If not adjust your secondary clutch per the owners manual. When you put on a new belt, you will probably need to adjust back again, or you will have belt squeal when warmed up and idling, and possibly creep of the sleed when on a slick surface.
